Who Needs a Learner's Permit?
Anyone who plans to start learning how to drive in Florida (whether under 18 or an adult) must first get a Florida Learner's Permit (unless you already hold a valid driver's license or permit from another state or country).

First Time Driver Course (18 and older)
The First Time Driver (TLSAE) course, also known as Drug & Alcohol course, is required for applicants 18 years of age or older to obtain a Florida learner's permit .

Florida Permit Practice Test
Prepare for your Florida Class E knowledge exam with our realistic practice test designed to help increase your confidence before the exam. You may take the test up to three times, with different questions on each attempt. Important: This is a practice test only and does not replace the official Florida Class E knowledge exam.

Florida Class E Knowledge Exam (Online - under 18 only)
Applicants under 18 years of age may complete the official Florida Class E Knowledge Exam (Permit Test) online, in accordance with Florida Statute 322.56(3)(b) and (e). This state-authorized exam allows eligible minors to take the permit test from home, Class E Knowledge Testing services are provided by the American Safety Institute. Important: Applicants 18 years of age or older must take the Class E Knowledge Exam in person, as Florida law does not permit online testing for this age group.
